The
Family Kitchen
In October, a
work party was held to make fall-themed table centerpieces for the
Family Kitchen to use through Thanksgiving. Established in 1986, the
Family Kitchen is a partnership of 11 area churches that send teams
of volunteers to prepare and serve meals. |
|
The
Family Kitchen mission is “to serve anyone who needs a
nutritious meal in a safe and caring environment.” When the
centerpieces were delivered, staff and diners seemed
delighted. In fact, two elderly diners asked Soroptimist
member Barb Borlen if she would sell each of them one of the
centerpieces. They were thrilled when Barb said she would not sell
the centerpieces, but they could each select one to take for free! |

at Nancy’s' House-a transitional home for families with children
under 18. Nearly 190 hours of labor, by members, with assistance
from staff--painted 5 bedrooms, bath and utility room. Rugs were
shampooed, cupboards, woodwork, windows and blinds washed! SIA of
Bend also purchased a new washer and dryer for the house. SIA of
Bend has supported this worthwhile project for nearly 7 years. |
